Started by the arty and imaginative NIFTian duo, Deepika Nigam and Surbhi Jain , Boriya Basta is a brand dealing in exquisite kilim bags, footwear and cushion covers. If someone had to ask me to put what I think of this brand in one sentence, I’d say it’s where the conventional meets the unconventional and oh my, do they fuse and how. When you carry a Boriya Basta bag, you feel your trendiest and at the same time traditional which is what appeals to me most. They are specially known for their hand-woven ‘kilim’ bags, a textile that Deepika discovered while working in a renowned carpet company post graduation. She joined hands with Accessory Design graduate Surbhi and the two of them launched their very first collection of kilim bags in August, 2014. (YES! They are now a year old! YAY!) They have now expanded to cushion covers and footwear.
In today’s post, I’m going to take you through my top three picks amongst their ‘kilim’ bag collection and also how I styled one of their weekender bags.
1. The Traveler Bag is exactly what you need for your spontaneous getaways and those little breaks away from the city!
2. Your basic tote bag revamped into this uber cool creation. Must have for your every day use because hello, gotta be fabulous all day errrday!
3. The Arch Bag to make you stand out in that huge crowd at college or that concert or pretty much.. anywhere.
I styled my very own Boriya Basta ‘Weekender Bag’ with a white crop top, boyfriend jeans and threw on my white elongated vest. It keeps you stylish as well as at ease while travelling. If you aren’t such a sneaker head like me, a pair of sandals would look great on this kind of outfit too!
